Windows 2000 DHCP Setup Instructions

  1. Select Start > Settings > Network and Dial-up Connections.
  2. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon to open the Local Area Connection Status window.
  3. Click the Properties button to open the Local Area Connection Properties window.
  4. In the upper portion of the Local Area Connection Properties window, confirm that there is a card name in the greyed out text box under the label "Connect using"--if there is not one listed, please see your Network Administrator.
  5. Click to highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). If Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) isn't listed, please see your Network Administrator.
  6. Click the Properties button to open the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window.

  7. If you have not done so already, take a moment to copy down all your current settings for future reference.
  8. Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
  9. Select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
  10. Click OK to return to the Local Area Connection Properties window.
  11. Click OK to return to the Network and Dial-up Connections window.

  1. Select Start > Settings > Network Connections.
